Spend the morning visiting the storied United States Military Academy at West Point. In the afternoon return to Cold Spring and either spend an afternoon browsing the antique stores and boutiques or grabbing a meal in the charming 19th century riverfront village of Cold Spring. Additionally, choose a narrated cruise on the Hudson River on an authentic paddle wheel cruise boat while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Hudson Highlands. Departures 2012Saturday, June 23 The ExperienceYou will board the Hudson Line train departing at 8:47 AM train from Grand Central Terminal. This train will show a final destination of Poughkeepsie but you will get off the train at the Cold Spring Station. You will be met at the Cold Springs Metro North station at 10:00 AM by a West Point Tours guide and bus. During the 25 minute drive to West Point the guide will give an orientation about the day as well as point out sites along the way. When you arrive at West Point you will take a 1 hour bus and walking tour with a guide. You may upgrade to a 2 hour tour when you arrive at West Point by paying the difference at our desk. The tour will make stops at the Main Cadet Chapel, Trophy Point overlooking the Hudson River and the Parade Field. You will have time to visit the West Point Museum, the largest and oldest military museum in the Americas as well as the informative displays and video loops about the cadet experience at the Visitors Center. Your West Point Tours bus will depart West Point at 2:00 for the return to Cold Spring where you will be dropped off on Main Street to grab a bite to eat and enjoy the shops in this quaint village. The Cold Spring train station is in walking distance of Main Street and you may catch any train back to New York City. Add an afternoon Hudson River Cruise on The River Rose Come aboard the River Rose and step back in time as you cruise the beautiful Hudson River on an authentic Mississippi paddle wheeler. During your 2 hour narrated sightseeing cruise, relax on our spacious decks and enjoy the unique history and stories surrounding Constitution Island, the famous hamlet of Garrison, Sandy Beach, the Catskill Aqueduct System, Bannerman Island and its castle and so much more. Enjoy a cool beverage from our full service bar and luxuriate in the fresh breezes while enjoying the company of friends and family. The cruise departs from the Cold Spring dock at 3:00 PM and returns to Cold Spring at 5:00 PM Box lunches available, please inquire.
